I’m excited to have you join us for the Horse + Human Connection Workshop. Before participating, please read the following agreement carefully. It covers what to expect, workshop policies, horse safety, photography, and the inherent risks of participating in activities around horses.
By signing at the bottom, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to everything outlined below.
What to Expect
The Horse + Human Connection Workshop is a two-hour, ground-based experience with horses.
Activities may include observing horses, learning about horse behavior and body language, grooming, leading, groundwork exercises, group discussion, reflection, and spending quiet time with the horses.
There is no riding during this workshop, and previous horse experience is not required.
Participation in individual activities is encouraged but not required. You may choose not to participate in an activity at any time if you are uncomfortable.
Because we are working with live animals, the exact activities may change based on the horses, weather, facility conditions, participant safety, or other circumstances on the day of the workshop.
A particular horse, activity, or amount of individual horse interaction cannot be guaranteed.
Arrival + What to Wear
Please plan to arrive 10 minutes before the workshop begins so we can start together at 9:30 AM.
Please do not enter horse areas, approach horses, feed horses, or begin interacting with them until instructed.
This workshop takes place at a working ranch. You may encounter dirt, dust, mud, manure, insects, uneven ground, changing temperatures, and other normal ranch conditions.
Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe, sturdy shoes or boots. No sandals or open-toed shoes.
Horse Safety
Horses are large, powerful animals with their own behaviors and responses. Even experienced and well-trained horses can move suddenly, become startled, or behave unpredictably.
For everyone's safety, you agree to:
• Follow all instructions provided by the facilitator and Salt Creek Ranch staff.
• Approach, handle, groom, lead, feed, or otherwise interact with horses only as instructed.
• Respect the horses' personal space and the boundaries established during the workshop.
• Never feed a horse unless specifically given permission.
• Avoid running, yelling, intentionally startling horses, or engaging in behavior that could create an unsafe situation.
• Let the facilitator know if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe at any time.
• Wear appropriate closed-toe footwear while participating.
You may be asked to stop an activity or step away from a horse if the facilitator determines it is necessary for your safety, another participant's safety, or the wellbeing of the horse.
Horse Welfare
The wellbeing of the horses comes first.
A horse may be removed from an activity at any time, and activities may be changed, shortened, substituted, or discontinued based on the horse's behavior, comfort, physical condition, or other circumstances.
You agree to respect all instructions regarding the handling and treatment of the horses.
Assumption of Risk
You understand that being around and interacting with horses involves inherent risks.
Horses may kick, bite, strike, step on, push, pull, run, become startled, move suddenly, or otherwise behave unpredictably. Risks may also arise from other animals, equipment, terrain, weather, other participants, and normal ranch conditions.
These activities may involve the risk of bodily injury, property damage, or other harm.
By choosing to participate, you acknowledge these inherent risks and voluntarily accept the risks associated with participating in this workshop and being around or interacting with horses.
Personal Responsibility
You are responsible for determining whether you are comfortable and able to participate safely in workshop activities.
You may decline to participate in any activity at any time.
Please communicate with the facilitator if you have a concern that may affect your ability to participate safely.
Participants may not participate in horse activities while impaired by alcohol, cannabis, recreational drugs, or any other substance that could interfere with their ability to safely interact with horses or follow instructions.
The facilitator reserves the right to restrict or end a participant's involvement in an activity, or ask a participant to leave the workshop, if their behavior creates a safety concern for themselves, another participant, the facilitator, staff, or the horses.
A participant asked to leave because of unsafe or inappropriate behavior will not receive a refund.
Weather + Outdoor Conditions
This workshop will take place rain or shine when conditions allow us to safely do so.
Light rain, cold, heat, or other manageable weather conditions may not result in cancellation. Activities may be adjusted based on conditions.
If weather, wildfire conditions, poor air quality, facility conditions, horse welfare concerns, or another circumstance makes it unsafe or unreasonable to hold the workshop, participants will be notified as soon as reasonably possible.
Cancellation + Refund Policy
Because attendance is limited and your registration reserves one of the available spaces, all registrations are non-refundable.
If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your registration to another person. Please contact Sausha at sausha@saushadavis.com before the workshop with the replacement participant's information.
The replacement participant must agree to and sign this Participant Agreement before participating.
If the workshop is canceled by the organizer because of unsafe weather, horse welfare concerns, facility issues, illness, emergency, or another circumstance that prevents the workshop from being held safely, you will have the option to:
1. Transfer your registration to the rescheduled workshop, or
2. Receive a refund of your workshop registration fee.
The organizer is not responsible for travel costs, accommodations, lost wages, childcare, or other expenses incurred in connection with attending the workshop.
Emergency Situations
If an injury or emergency occurs during the workshop, you understand that the facilitator or facility staff may contact emergency medical services when reasonably necessary.
You are responsible for any medical expenses or other costs associated with medical care you receive.
Personal Belongings
You are responsible for your own personal belongings during the workshop.
Sausha Davis and Salt Creek Ranch are not responsible for lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged personal property.
Photography + Video
Photography and video may be taken during the workshop and may be used by Sausha Davis for social media, website, marketing, educational, or promotional purposes.
If you do not want identifiable photographs or video of yourself used, please let us know when you arrive.
You will be provided with a photography opt-out form at the workshop, and reasonable efforts will be made to ensure you are not included in identifiable photographs or video used publicly.
Participant Agreement
By signing below, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and that you have read, understand, and agree to this Participant Agreement in its entirety.
You understand the nature of the Horse + Human Connection Workshop, the cancellation and no-refund policies, safety requirements, photography notice, and the inherent risks associated with horses, equine activities, outdoor environments, and participation in this workshop.
You voluntarily choose to participate, assume the inherent risks associated with participation, and agree to follow the instructions provided by the facilitator and facility.
